What happened
Anthropic has introduced Personal Finance, a Claude feature that connects the assistant to users’ financial data. The company says the feature lets people ask questions about their money without opening each banking app and adding up figures themselves.
In Anthropic’s example, a user asks, “Where did my money go this month?” Claude adds spending across connected accounts and sorts the results into categories. The example totals $4,309.37, with more than half going to rent and utilities and $1,024.51 going to food and drink.
Anthropic also says Claude can flag unusual activity, such as an unexpected bill or a charge appearing twice. Access remains read-only: the company says the tool cannot move, manage or invest money and is not designed to provide investment advice.
Why it matters
Combined spending view
Anthropic says Claude can total spending across connected accounts and group it by category in response to a question.
No financial actions
Anthropic says the feature can read financial data but cannot move, manage or invest money.
What we know
The feature is available through a gradual beta rollout limited to the Pro, Max and Ultra plans in the United States, according to Unite.AI. A paid subscription does not guarantee immediate access during that rollout. Anthropic also identified those plans and the US availability restriction, according to Latest news from Azerbaijan.
Unite.AI reports that users can link only US banks, with a maximum of 16. For selected accounts, Claude can read bank and account names, account types, usually the last four digits, balances, credit limits and up to 24 months of transactions.
The example also shows Claude comparing spending with earlier months. Follow-up answers identify a membership renewal and four payments due before payday, leaving $1,393.22 in the example, according to Unite.AI.
Unite.AI reports that conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic’s models, while activity outside the hub follows the user’s privacy settings. Anthropic advises users to check important figures against bank records because Claude can make mistakes.
