Motorola Signature 27 launches with flagship specs and $1,599.99 price
Published 1 min read
Ars Technica adds that the device is a completely new take on flagship smartphones for Motorola.
In short
- Motorola is asking $1,599.99 for the Signature 27, putting it above even the high-end flagship phones from Samsung and Apple.
- Motorola is officially back in the flagship space, with its new Signature 27 phone available for pre-order starting today, but it’ll cost a pretty penny.
- Motorola does not intend to ship a version of the Signature 27 with GrapheneOS preloaded, so it’ll be up to buyers to install it.
- Date
- November 19 if you are so inclined
- Battery
- 7,000 mAh cell inside that Motorola says charges at 90W
- Storage
- While some smartphones have flirted with 16GB of memory
- Screen
- 6.8-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate
What happened
Battery life is described as excellent with a 7,000 mAh cell inside that Motorola says charges at 90W (wired) and uses silicon-carbon battery tech.
There appears to be no Qi2 support for Signature 27, despite Motorola supporting the tech elsewhere in its lineup.
Ars Technica mentions you’ll still immediately clock this as a Motorola device due to its distinctive use of materials and Pantone colors.
Ars Technica notes that while some smartphones have flirted with 16GB of memory, that’s less common these days, and Signature 27 will have 12GB like Samsung’s base model flagships.
Ars Technica lists three standard cameras: a 50MP primary, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 200MP 3x optical zoom (100x digital zoom).
Ars Technica adds that Motorola’s cameras have long struggled to capture moving subjects clearly, so it’ll be interesting to see if the EVS fixes that.
Why it matters
Availability
Preorders will be available starting November 19 and the device goes on sale November 26 through Motorola, Best Buy, or Amazon.
What we know
The device features 12GB of memory and 512GB of storage, and uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip according to the reports.
What remains unclear
- No Qi2 support is confirmed in the reports, but other Motorola lineup devices do support the tech.
